Carols in West Park

The Geelong West Neighbourhood House has partnered with Hodges, St John's Lutheran School and OneCare Geelong to present the inaugural Carols in West Park.

This is a FREE event which gives us all the opportunity to come together to celebrate and help our community at Christmas time.

Health & Wellbeing

Pilates

Come and join to learn the secret of a beautiful and healthy body.

Our Pilates class will give you a full body workout performed on a mat, realigning, strengthening and improving your balance.

Improve your posture, flexibility and balance, reduce neck and back discomfort, build bone and muscle strength, firm up your tummy and butt, and reduce stress in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Mindfulness Meditation

You will be assisted to create and inner stillness and peace through perseverance.

Come and unwind in your lunch hour, learn to feel more relaxed, centered, vibrant, forgiving, loving and serene.

Linda has been practicing Mindfulness and Meditation for 10 years and is passionate to share the benefits of these practices.

Research papers around the benefits of Mindfulness and Meditation have grown exponentially during the past few years, demonstrating highly positive effect on the whole person: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Benefits include weight and blood pressure regulation, decreased stress levels, better concentration and mental clarity and improved emotional awareness.

Yoga

Join us in this traditional Hatha Yoga class for everyone, absolute beginners to experienced.

Here you will learn techniques to help keep your mind and body healthy and happy by reducing tension and stress.

Everyone is welcome in this friendly and non competitive environment. If you can breathe, you can do yoga.

Creative Arts

Mosaic Workshop "Funky, Found and Feathered"

The Geelong West Community Garden, Leckie Place, off Coquette St, Geelong West

Make a trio of small birds on sticks.

Birds are 12cm, 11cm & 9cm diameter. Found metal objects are incorporated with recycled china and glass to create these quirky birds.

Participants may also pot up their birds in a rusted can with succulents provided. All materials including afternoon tea supplied. BYO metal ‘treasures’ if you wish.

Printmaking – Gelli Printing

Dates:

Come and try printmaking without a press.

We will use a gelatin plate (provided) and explore its possibilities using found objects, stencils, masking and more.

Using acrylic and watercolour paint you will spend time learning through doing and then create your own project to complete.

Make your own gift cards for Christmas or turn your creative efforts in a present. Great for beginners. No experience necessary.

Geelong West Café Care Connect

A Café style support group for carers and the person they are caring for to spend some time together in a supportive and welcoming environment.

  • Do you provide care and support to an older person or someone who has dementia? Or know someone who does?
  • Would you both like to meet others in a similar situation?
  • Would you like information about other services available?
  • Enjoy a regular café style support group with a cuppa, cake and conversation!
