Pilates

Come and join to learn the secret of a beautiful and healthy body.

Our Pilates class will give you a full body workout performed on a mat, realigning, strengthening and improving your balance.

Improve your posture, flexibility and balance, reduce neck and back discomfort, build bone and muscle strength, firm up your tummy and butt, and reduce stress in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Yoga

Join us in a non-competitive friendly environment for a traditional Hatha style yoga class suitable for all levels - absolute beginners to experienced practitioners.

Alita will lead you through breathing techniques, gentle stretching and rotations of joints to release tension through the body and mind, plus energizing strengthening and balancing sequences to keep the body and mind sharp, healthy and harmonized. Class concludes with a guided relaxation to restore and rejuvenate.

Qigong Classes

Qigong is an integrated body-mind health practice originating from China encompassing physical postures and stretching, repeated flowing body movement, breathing techniques and focused intention.

The movements are easy to learn and accessible to everyone, require no equipment and are modified in case of injury/illness.

Mindfulness Meditation

Looking for a way to create a more balanced life and improve your wellbeing?

Come join our mindfulness class and switch off from the demands of life and experience simply being. Together we gradually unwind and give our bodies and minds the chance to rejuvenate and replenish.

Proved benefits of regular mindfulness/meditation practice include better intra and inter personal relationship, decreased stress levels, better concentration and mental clarity, improved emotional awareness, weight and blood pressure regulation.

Creative Arts

Art Classes - Drawing from the Garden

Take some time away from technology and engage with natural subjects while learning to draw. This class will use physical objects - flowers, fungi, insects and foliage. We will focus on creating form and shape, before adding detail.

Mosaics Workshop - Bird, Bee & Butterfly on Sticks

Make jewel like small Bee and Butterfly mosaics. The Bee is 4cm long and the Butterflies are 7cm long. Both maybe incorporated into the Bee Bowl or in an existing DIY insect attracting bowl in your garden.

Community

Geelong West Café Care Connect

Time: 
Alternate Tuesday afternoons - 1.00pm - 3.30pm

Café Care Connect is a support program for people caring for an elderly person or someone who has dementia to enjoy some social activities together in a supportive and welcoming environment.

It provides opportunities for carers and those they are caring for to join in a regular café style support group and enjoy delicious homemade food, information, lively conversation and fun activities.

It is an opportunity for people to meet others in a similar situation, share their experiences and make new friendships along the way.

2018 Annual General Meeting

Geelong West Neighbourhood House held its 2018 AGM on Tuesday 9 October, at 7pm, at Gateways Support Services, Albert St, Geelong West.
