Geelong West Neighbourhood House Changes For 2021
During 2020 Geelong West Neighbourhood House became the formal Lease-holder of the Community Hub, located in West Park, 89 Autumn St. This was an agreed arrangement between the City of Greater Geelong (COGG), Geelong West Senior Citizens (GWSC) and Geelong West Neighbourhood House (GWNH).
Late in 2020 Geelong West Senior Citizens advised COGG that their organisation would be disbanding. We are advised that this dissolution should occur in March, 2021. We wish all previous members of GWSC health and happiness into the future.
Also late in 2020, Geelong West Neighbourhood House conducted a review of independent hall-hirers; booking usage and rental agreements, by who have used the Hall over varying periods of time. The review identified significant disparity between Fees at other sites and it was agreed by the GWNH Committee of Management that a fee restructure would ensure that fair hourly rates are commensurate with other local facilities.
The Committee identified three fee levels:
- Community Group (Unfunded) remains at $10 per hour
- Community Organisation (Funded: Not for Profit) increases to $15 per hour
- Commercial Hirer (Private Business) increases to $30 per hour
2021 promises to be an exciting year for GWNH, with new programs emerging and the potential to offer a new range of learning opportunities for existing and new members. One of our key objectives is to run some surveys to seek advice on new programs. Keep an eye out for our Surveys and Program Calendars this year. We’d love to hear from you!
